Choose from the Finest Boutiques, Shops & Markets in the City
Spend even a day in Edinburgh, and it will quickly become clear just how well equipped the city is with shopping destinations, from high-end luxury to high street labels. However, with all this choice, where do you start, because you won’t have time to explore all of Edinburgh’s retail wonders unless you’re in the capital for a few weeks.
Whether you’re out looking for designer fashion, fantastic food or gifts to take home with you, Edinburgh has it all, but to make things easier, you might want to head to one of the cities many shopping centres. Right in the heart of the city is the St James’s Shopping Centre, and the outdoor Multrees Walk (the city’s foremost luxury shopping destination) is located nearby. A little bit further out of the centre is the Ocean Terminal Shopping and the Gyle Shopping Centre.
There’s also a number of excellent markets in the city, most of which are at their best at the weekend. The most famous market area of the city is the Grassmarket. The Grassmarket, located in the Old Town area of the city, is a collection of independent shops, pubs and cafes. The market itself runs on a Saturday, and is perfect if you’re in the mood for a leisurely stroll up and down the rows of stalls. Other popular markets include Edinburgh Farmers’ Market, the Tram Stop Market and Stockbridge Market.
As you can see, Edinburgh is an ideal destination if you’ve been bitten by the shopping bug. In addition to the popular shopping destinations and markets, there’s also countless hidden gems tucked away down quiet streets all over the city. Get out and explore Edinburgh and you might stumble across a couple of bargains you weren’t expecting.
